Eun Jeong: Fashion Designer
Eun Jeong is from Korea and has had a busy career to date:
winning Fashion Fringe 2008; working as a part-time tutor on the Fashion Design course at Kent Institute; developing my own label ‘1st element by hong eun jeong’; designing uniforms for Hyundai Department store staff in Korea; illustrating for an international textile magazine.
I designed three collections in Seoul, Korea and became a manager of the overseas business department at D.S Textile in UK at the same time as running my own label in the UK.
Eun Jeong won the 2008 Covent Garden Fashion Fringe Award with a collection entitled “go by a secret path” which featured black, burnt orange and ivory pieces. This is in contrast to the brilliant white of her SS10 collection. Eun’s signature style involves lots of excess drapery, pleats and flowers.
Like many others including Bora Aksu and John Rocha, the SS10 collection involved white lace. The introduction to the SS10 collection is as follows:
With ballet costumes being the concept of the collection, texture, weight and a key selection of fabrics were all neccessary elements to factor into the designs. Therefore fabrics including silk chiffon and lace are utilised to give fluid movement and to create a soft, light silhouette. These fabrics and draping are juxtaposed with bold shoulder details to give a harder edge to what is essentially a very feminine collection.
